GOLSPIE Sutherland were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dalbeattie Star at King George V Park last Saturday after they were forced to play for most of the match with 10 men.

Defender Ally MacLeod got his marching orders in the fourth minute after he was adjudged to have prevented a clear goalscoring opportunity.

The decision looked harsh and Dalbeattie took full advantage, scoring two quick-fire goals from Lewis Sloane and Graham Bell.

But Golspie hit back early in the second half when substitute David Manson pulled one back with almost his first touch.

However, Sloane was on target again in the 69th minute and Jack Steele scored for the Lowland league side late on to make it 4-1.

TOMORROW (Saturday) Golspie face Thurso in the quarter-finals of the North Caledonian Cup at King George V Park – kick-off 2.30pm.

Sutherland United are also back in action when they travel to Dingwall to meet Lewis & Harris on neutral territory.

The other tie is between holders Alness United and Halkirk United.
