A fortnight ago, they won the Jack Mowat Open Pairs at the same venue.

For the triples, teams from the host club were joined by entries from Thurso, Wick Rosebank, Dornoch and Golspie.

Playing a round robin format of three games each over 10 ends, with the top two teams going forward to the final, there was all to play for after the first two rounds.

Only three teams had won both games and it was still open to others to stop their progress.

However, all three were successful in the third round and therefore shot difference was called into deciding who would be in the final.

Coming out top was the Golspie trio of Robin Colvin (lead), Mike Irwin (second) and George Mowat (skip) with six points and +29 shots.

Second team and also through to the final was the Lybster ladies trio of Margaret Larnach (lead), Di Sutherland (second) and Eileen Perry (skip) with +18 shots which took them comfortably past another Lybster trio of John Cullop (lead), Marshall Bowman (2nd) and Stan Fraser (skip) who could only garner +9 shots over the three rounds.

In the final the Golspie triple got off to a flier, being 9-1 up at the halfway point after six ends in the 12-end final.

They continued to close out every effort the ladies made to get back into things and ran out worthy winners by the 12th and final end.
