ASSISTANT manager Josh Meekings says Brora Rangers must back up their statement of looking to win silverware this season by reaching the final of the Highland League Cup when they take on Keith at Dudgeon Park.

The semi final has been rearranged for tomorrow afternoon after the game was postponed last weekend due to a road accident on the A9 near Dunrobin Castle on Saturday.

The accident prevented Keith from reaching Dudgeon Park on time for kick-off and it was decided to delay the match for seven days.

Meekings took charge of Brora Rangers in the 2-0 win against Clachnacuddin on Wednesday in the Highland League as Ally Macdonald was not present.

He said the club have made no secret of their intentions of looking to win silverware and challenge for the league title.

He said they have to back that up by beating Keith tomorrow and setting up a clash against Fraserburgh in the final in Inverurie next weekend.

Speaking after the win against Clachnacuddin on Wednesday night, he said: “We have not hidden away from the fact that we want to win trophies and challenge for the league.

“Hopefully we can put in a more positive performance to put us in the final and give us a chance.

“It is vitally important for us to win trophies.

“We said that right at the beginning season.

“The semi final clash for us is a chance to make a final and win some silverware.”

Brora Rangers are in sixth place in the Highland League after a 2-0 win against Clachnacuddin in Inverness on Wednesday night.

Jordan Macrae managed to scramble a shot into the net on the stroke of half time to put Brora Rangers 1-0 up at the break.

The Cattachs doubled their advantage when Clachnacuddin defender Ben Cormack scored an own goal to give the visitors all three points.

Brora Rangers have scored 11 goals in their eight league matches so far this season.

Meekings admitted the team have not been as prolific in front of goal as they would have liked.

He says the team will work to be more prolific as the season goes on.

Speaking after the Clach game, he said: “The performance was fine, although we were sloppy at times and gave away needless errors when we didn’t need to.

“But in the second half we had a bit more intensity to our play and put a lot of balls into the box.

“We got the joy with the second goal and made it comfortable which was nice and positive.

“At the end of the night we got three points and a clean sheet.

“We need to keep doing what we are doing, we have struggled to put the ball in the net, but it is another two goals.

“We are scoring goals in the cup, but not as much in the league, and hopefully that will change in the next few games.”
