Brora Rangers 6 v 0 Lossiemouth

BRORA Rangers’ captain Steven MacKay wrote his name all over this match with five of his side’s goals in a superb attacking display at Dudgeon Park last Saturday.

Despite dominating the early stages of the match, Brora had to wait until the 25th minute for the opener. MacKay rose above the Lossie defence to head home from close range.

MacKay grabbed his second just after the half hour mark when he powered home a shot from the edge of the 18-yard box.

It was one-way traffic towards the Lossie goal and the home side were unlucky not to add to their lead after the woodwork came to the Coasters’ rescue on no fewer than four occasions.

The same pattern continued after the break and MacKay completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute from the penalty spot after he was taken down in the box.

There was no stopping the Brora skipper and he added his fourth three minutes later when he beat Lossie goalkeeper Errol Watson at the near post.

The home side were awarded another penalty shortly afterwards but this time it was taken by Liam Baxter who made no mistake from the spot.

But MacKay was on target again before the end when he swept the ball into the net for his own fifth goal and his side’s sixth in injury time.

Brora: Ridgers, Duncan, Golabek, Hind, Lamb, M MacLean, MacKay, MacDonald, Greig, Baxter, Grant. Subs – Gillespie, Hart, Campbell, Ross, Allan.

TOMORROW (Saturday), Brora host Fraserburgh, the team directly below them in the table, at Dudgeon Park – kick-off 3pm.
