LOCAL girl Caitlin Boa was the only Royal Dornoch junior member to figure in her club’s junior open competition on April 14th and she did so with great distinction by winning two trophies.

The 15-year-old bettered the women’s standard scratch score of 78 for the demanding championship course by seven strokes, her nett 71, off 24 handicap, lifting the open Matheson Trophy on a count back from Lee Finlay (Orkney Golf Club) and then adding the confined Phimister Trophy for the best local golfer.

Inverness’s Rory Franssen (14) returned the lowest scratch score, a fine four over par 74, and two ahead of Shaun Hogg (Alness).

Inverness visitors dominated the over 15 age group claiming the first three places.

For younger competitors nine holes was played over the Struie course where Danny Doogan (Golspie) had the best score of the under 11 year olds, a 55, and local Connor Mackay the best of the 12 year olds with 49.
