Wick Academy 6, Brora Rangers 0

BRORA Rangers were led a merry dance by their north rivals Wick Academy in a one-sided match at Harmsworth Park last night.

The home side went ahead as early as the eighth minute when a Gary Weir shot was parried by Shaun McCarthy and David Allan was on hand to knock in the rebound.

Liam Baxter almost levelled the scores in the 15th minute when he got on the end of a Stuart Golabek cross but his effort inched over the crossbar.

At the other end McCarthy was forced to make a fine fingertip save from Richard Macadie which was turned behind for a corner.

But the home side made it 2-0 five minutes from the break when Weir struck after Sam MacKay and Macadie combined to set him up.

Brora had the chance to reduce the deficit on the stroke of half time when Alex MacLeod laid the ball off for Duncan Jones, but he pushed it past the wrong side of the upright.

The match was practically over as a contest a minute into the second half when Weir met a Macadie corner at the near post to head home.

Brora had a glimmer of a chance in the 70th minute but Craig Ross was denied by Wick goalkeeper Michael Gray.

However, Wick added a fourth goal five minutes later when former Brora player MacKay netted with a stunning free kick.

The goals continued to flow and Allan got his second of the night when he tucked the ball away from 15 yards.

Weir completed his hat-trick six minutes from the end to complete the scoring on a miserable night for Brora.
