Brora Rangers have been knocked out of the Trust Trophy after losing a penalty shoot-out to Aberdeen B at Dudgeon Park.

Jordan Macrae gave Brora Rangers the lead in the first half but Alfie Bavidge levelled for the young Dons with six minutes remaining.

Aberdeen B then won the shoot-out and will face Peterhead in the second round in two weeks time.

The hosts almost opened the scoring within the first minute. Max Ewan almost connected with a superb cross from Dale Gillespie from the left wing, but was unable to guide the ball into the net.

The Cattachs pressed for the opener and went close midway through the first half when Paul Brindle's curling shot beat the goalkeeper, but hit the right post.

But they did break the deadlock in the 28th minute when sloppy Aberdeen defending was punished.

Andy Macrae won the ball off a defender and crossed into the six-yard box to find Jordan Macrae to smash home.

The young Dons almost equalised right at the start of the second half when Brendan Hamilton launched a thunderous effort from 20 yards out that had to be tipped over the bar by Danny Gillan.

The Cattachs almost doubled their advantage midway through the second half when Max Ewan's cross from the right wing found Alistair Sutherland in the box. But his shot was well saved by Ritchie to keep Aberdeen's deficit to one.

The young Dons equalised with six minutes left when a long ball upfield found Bavidge and from the edge of the box fired a low drive past Gillan to level the game.

Brora nearly won the game in injury time at Alistair Sutherland's cross into the box found the head of Colin Williamson who nods wide of the left post as the game went straight to penalties.

Both teams missed their first penalties as Brendan Hamilton for Aberdeen and Andy Macrae for Brora both failed to hit the target.

Finlay Marshall made it 1-0 for Aberdeen with Mark Nicolson hitting the post in Brora's second.

Dylan Lobban made it 2-0 for the Dons in the shoot-out with Paul Brindle scoring the first penalty in the shoot-out to make it 2-1.

Adam Emslie made it 3-1 for Aberdeen with Alistair Sutherland keeping Brora's hopes alive to make it 3-2.

But in the fifth penalty, Bavidge kept his cool to send Aberdeen into the second round.
