Brora Rangers have confirmed that they are withdrawing from the Highlands and Islands League.
The club confirmed on Friday night that they will not complete the 2023 season after deciding to pull out of the competition.
Brora Rangers were bottom of the Highlands and Islands League after losing all eight matches this season.
They were due to face Caithness in Castletown on Sunday and forfeited their previous league match against Clachnacuddin.
The last match they played was a 7-1 defeat to Nairn St Ninian on August 27.
In a statement on the club's website on Friday night, Brora Rangers Ladies hoped to continue in some capacity in the future.
They wrote: "It’s with sadness that we announce our withdrawal from the SWF Highlands & Islands League.
"It definitely wasn’t an easy decision and something we have been fighting for a long time, but it’s what is best for the future of BRLFC.
"We are working closely with another team in the league to ensure the Ladies that want to continue playing competitively will have the option to do so.
"For those who do not, training will always be open. We have strong plans in place for the future of the Ladies team but to make this work we need time to focus on our youth section of the club.
"It was great being part of the league for a fourth season and we are disappointed having to withdraw this close to the end.
"We would like to say a massive thank-you to everyone who has supported us and sponsored us to date, there are far to many to name. Most of all to our supporters who even travelled to Edinburgh to be with us."
Brora Rangers were one of the original members of the Highland and Islands League which formed in 2019.
Their withdrawal leaves the Highland and Islands League with seven teams, the SWF has yet to confirm what impact Brora Rangers pulling out will have on the league table.
Sutherland Women, who play most of their home matches at Couper Park in Helmsdale, are one of the seven teams remaining in the league.
