The Cattachs lifted the trophy last season after they defeated Buckie Thistle 2-1 in the final at Station Park.

It was the second time Brora Rangers won the Highland League Cup following their first success in the 2015-16 season.

Brora warmed up for the match with a 3-1victory over Huntly at Christie Park in the Highland League last week.

Andrew Macrae gave Brora Rangers the lead 10 minutes before half time after he prodded home the ball after a goalmouth scramble.

But Huntly equalised in the 42nd minute when Michael Clark beat the Brora defence in the air to nod home a corner kick.

Brora persevered for a second goal and regained the lead with 10 minutes remaining thanks to Ali Sutherland.

Gregor Macdonald took all three points back to Sutherland as he killed the game off with a fine strike three minutes from the end.

Buckie Thistle remain at the top of the Highland League as they defeated Formartine United 2-1 at Pitmedden.

Andrew MacAskill and Josh Peters gave Buckie a two-goal lead.

Jack MacIver pulled one back for Formartine.

Brechin City remain in second place after they battered Clachnacuddin 5-0 at Glebe Park.

Anthony McDonald gave Brechin the lead after four minutes.

Grady McGrath scored a hat trick with Kevin McHattie also finding the net.

Champions Fraserburgh were held to a 1-1 draw at Forres Mechanics.

A Martin Groat own goal gave Fraserburgh the lead, but Forres equalised through Ben Barron midway through the second half.

Inverurie Locos defeated Keith 2-0 at Harlaw Park.

Greg Mitchell and Robert Ward grabbed the goals.

Nairn County are four games unbeaten as they beat Turriff United 2-1 at Station Park.

Rothes defeated Lossiemouth 3-1 with Banks O’Dee thrashing Strathspey Thistle 7-0.

Wick Academy beat Deveronvale 2-1 at Harmsworth Park.
