Brora Golf Club member claims top prize at Golspie

ROSS Naismith came out on top as he lifted the Campbell Shield at the Gents Open at Golspie Golf Club last weekend.

The Brora Golf Club member proved too good for the rest of the field which saw 79 entrants compete.

Fellow Brora golfer Connor Hall, who claimed the Sutherland County Cup earlier this month, settled for second place.

Completing the podium was Jamie Grant from Ullapool, who finished in third place.

The top six scratch results saw Andrew Allan from Invergordon in fourth place, Richard Sutherland from Brora Golf Club in fifth place and George Paterson from Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club in sixth place.

In the handicap competition, Colin Sutherland from Golspie Golf Club lifted the Millicent Bowl.

Anthony Muldoon from Tantallon Golf Club finished in second place with Campbell Jamieson from Brora Golf Club completing the podium as he finished in third place.

Golspie golf players completed the top six of the handicap tournament.

Simon Jordan finished in fourth place with Michael Bonnar in fifth place and Alasdair Macdougall taking sixth place.

The next major golf competition in Sutherland is set to take place at Royal Dornoch with the James Braid 36 Hole Open taking place on Saturday, June 24.

The Royal Marine Mixed Open takes place at Dornoch on Sunday, June 25.
