Luke Murray from Bonar Bridge continued his trophy winning ways at the International Sport Kickboxing Association Scottish Championships at Wishaw at the weekend, in an extrordinary day, with teams from all over Scotland taking part.

The extrememly high temperatures inside the sports hall made conditions very tough for the fighters but Luke won a third place trophy which enabled him to qualify for the ISKA world championships in Holland at the end of October.

Luke (26) won his first two fights convincingly then, in the semi final, very narrowly lost out to the eventual winner. His instructor said: "He has only been fighting since October but won a trophy in all four competitions he has entered.

"He’s training very hard at the moment and its only a matter of time before he earns himself his first winner’s trophy.

"The club is right behind him all the way and he’s gaining valuable experience all the time."

Anyone interested in taking up kickboxing should either phone 07595165210, or e.mail:highlandkickboxing@ymail.com or pop into either the Bonar Bridge Hall on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6-9pm or Dornoch squash courts on Wednesdays from 6.30-9pm. The club will be using the Ardgay Hall from 29th May for two months while the Bonar hall is renovated.
