New manager Fraser Heath is set to take charge of his first competitive game and is looking for his team to get away from any battle at the bottom this season.

Bonar Bridge finished bottom of the table on goal difference last season, but the team were praised for being the most competitive they have been in years, taking some notable results against top teams.

Heath says he has taken in a number of new players into his squad this season.

But he wants to carry on the feel good factor former manager Robert Mitchell created in the squad last season and look to achieve a position in the table which is clear from the bottom.

“There is a lot of new additions to the squad this season,” he said.

“I have managed to keep some players from last season too, but I am looking for a big improvement.

“I want our team to be competitive, I have no intention of being involved in a battle at the bottom.

“I want to be realistic at the same time of what we can do.

“But one of the reasons I took the job is I know we have a team that can compete in the league.

“I have taken in players that I wanted as well, so things are looking promising.

“But we need to be fit in this league and that is why I have gone for the younger approach for this season’s competition.”

Heath says looking at the results on the opening weekend of the league shows how open the competition will be this season.

“I don’t think there was so much shock results, but it shows the level of competitiveness that there will be in the league.

“Nairn County A last season were a team that gave us a hard game, but we are going down there confident we can pick up a win.”
