BONAR Bridge manager Bobby Breen says they are looking to bring in additional players to improve their performance in the North Caledonian League this season.

The club started their campaign off last week with a 4-0 defeat to Fort William in Migdale.

After a competitive first half performance with the scoreline goalless at half time, Fort William stamped their authority in the second half.

Doeimassei Muller Doguie gave Fort William the lead after 48 minutes.

Martin Munro doubled their advantage three minutes later with Ayman Bouzerai making it 3-0 just before the hour mark.

Juan Cardona made it 4-0 in the final minute of the match.

Breen believes Bonar Bridge can have a better campaign last season when they lost 23 out of 24 games.

But he says they will look at bringing in some new players to the team and will discuss that with captain Tommy McClenaghan.

“As far as player recruitment goes, I’ve had to leave most of that to Tommy as he knows the local area and I am still getting to know everybody,” he said.

“We will have to just take who we can get, at least for now. We will try to keep it young if we can. But we need to find at least 3-4 good, or decent, players we can bring into the squad.

Speaking about the game he said: “I haven’t really had a chance to get the guys all together at once. I had two players in the squad on Saturday that I hadn’t met before. We started off with our best team and we did really well. We hit the crossbar and missed a couple of chances. We really took them by surprise. The boys played really well and they were competitive.

“Then we picked up a couple of injuries just after half time and we just got ran over. They scored three goals in ten minutes and we didn’t have the quality on the bench to match that. But we have got a nice system together, especially the back four and goalkeeper.”
