UP and coming kart racer Abbie Munro (12) from Bonar Bridge will be racing at the Grampian Kart Club track in the final round of the Scottish Super Series this weekend.

With three rounds already completed, Abbie is currently sitting top of the Honda Cadet section of the Super Series Championship.

Abbie is totally dedicated to karting, says her mum, Mairi Mackenzie.

“Since March we have raced every weekend, apart from one. This year she has competed in 15 races to date, and has had 12 podium finishes, seven of which were firsts.”

Her dad, Adie Munro, used to race Gearbox Karts and this was how Abbie got interested in the sport. She initially went to a “Let’s go Karting” session which is run by the North of Scotland Kart Club at Golspie.

Abbie first started competing in races in 2010, when she was just eight years old (under MSA rules you can not compete before this).

Abbie is the current NSKC Honda Cadet Club Champion and also the overall Club Champion.

The last time the overall Club Championship was won by someone from Sutherland was in 2006 when Lewis Williamson was the winner. He subsequently went on to be a racing driver.
