BONAR Bridge karter Abbie Munro (12) has scored another major success.

The 12-year-old won the Scottish Championship for Honda Cadets, held over two days at Grampian Kart Club last weekend.

She also took home the Tayside Award for the fastest Honda Cadet lap.

The latest win means Abbie has this year secured all three of the major championships in Scotland – the Scottish Super Series Championship, the National Kart Racing Association Scottish Regional Championship and now the Scottish ‘S’ Plate Championship.

In the Honda Cadet championship, drivers compete in four heats and individual starting positions in the final grid are determined by the finishing places within the four heats.

Abbie notched up a cracking pace from the outset and was third on the grid entering the final.

After a great start, she went into the first corner in second place.

On the second lap, a clever pass moved her into first place which she held to the flag, but it was touch and go with last year’s Scottish champion Cameron Thompson on her bumper the whole way.

In the final lap Abbie went into defensive mode, holding the lead and crossing the final line 0.119 of a second in front of Cameron.
