A SUTHERLAND football club has come up with the answer to keeping its younger members fit during lockdown – skipping!

Bonar Bridge Football Club has issued all its junior members with skipping ropes and is setting them a series of skipping challenges. Senior members have also been given the opportunity to take part in the initiative.

Club chairman and youth coach Davie Anderson said: “We knew we had to do something to help our members stay connected and keep up their fitness levels when it became apparent that this current lockdown might last as long as the last, and in worse conditions in terms of weather and daylight hours.

“Skipping is an incredible cardio, conditioning and fat loss exercise and – as with any exercise – has the power to boost mental health.

“We’re hopeful that our members are taking advantage of the equipment we have provided.”

Mr Anderson is in addition hosting a series of more football related challenges and small space training and fitness ideas throughout the lockdown.
