Sutherland Sessions is celebrating World Gaelic Week (Seachdain na Gàidhlig) with a musical event in Bonar Bridge Hall.

The organisation is hosting a concert on Saturday, February 24, featuring two of Scotland’s finest Gaelic artists Brian Ó hEadhra and Fionnag NicChoinnich.

The Inverness based duo will perform songs from the Gaelic, Scots and Irish traditions as well as new material.

Brian is originally from Dublin and Fionnag from Lewis. Over the past 25 years, they have performed all over the world. Fionnag received the Gaelic Singer of the Year Award at the MG Alba Scots Trad Awards 2020 while Brian was nominated for the same award in 2019.

World Gaelic Week runs from Monday to Sunday, February 19-25, and aims to raise the profile of the Gaelic language through community initiatives, projects and events.

Fifty-three events are taking place in 17 council areas which have been funded with help from the Small Grants Fund, supported by Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

Joy Dunlop, director of World Gaelic Week said: “We are delighted Sutherland Sessions will be part of this year’s celebations and look froward to seeing their activities come to life next month.”

Tickets are available via Eventbrite or at the door.
