A WOMAN was found 'uninjured' last night after a Thurso lifeboat crew was called to assist Police Scotland and local Coastguard in the search.

The volunteer crew set off just before midnight on Tuesday August 8 as part of a multi agency search for a middle aged female, whom Police Scotland had reported as a concern for person incident and is believed to be in the Holborn Head area.

A Thurso RNLI spokesperson said: "The Taylors launched at 11.55pm and immediately started a search of the coastline using searchlights and thermal binoculars, meantime two standby lifeboat crew members offered to assist Police Scotland and local Coastguard with the shore based search.

"Working in coordination with the lifeboat the two crew members made their way along the coastline until, just east of the lighthouse, they located the missing person near the sea.

" She appeared to be uninjured. The two crew members then assisted the person back to Police Officers in Scrabster.

"The Lifeboat was stood down and returned to Scrabster at 1210 am."

Coxswain Gordon Munro said it was a short deployment but thankfully turned out to be a positive one.
