Witnesses wanted following accident near Overscaig Hotel

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision involving a motorcycle on the A838 north of Lairg last night.

The incident happened around 6.15pm approximately five miles south of the Overscaig House Hotel by Loch Shin.

The collision involved a single vehicle, a BMW motorcycle ridden by a 77-year-old man.

He was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment to serious injuries.

The road was closed for around five and a half hours to allow road policing officers to carry out an investigation at the scene.

Sergeant Gus Murray said: "Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and I would urge anyone who believe s they have information which could assist to make contact.

"You can contact police by calling 101, quoting reference NE2302/19.

"The road closure required a lengthy diversion and I would thank drivers for their patience while we carried out our work."
