FRIDAY, DECEMBER 22

Festive Fun

Christmas fun at Brora on Friday as Santa stops off at the village. He will be leaving W & A Geddes Ltd at 4.30pm and calling in at Muirfield and Brora Primary School before parking his sleigh at Cocoa Skye from 6pm. If you would like to meet Santa, let Wendy at Cocoa Skye know. A free event but donations welcome.

Cinema Club

Dornoch Cinema Club meets at Dornoch Community Centre (Social Club) on Friday at 7pm. Raffle. More information at: www.dadca.org.uk

Music Night

Bright Lights on Dark Nights at Delilah’s in Lochinver on Friday 7pm-12pm. Expect warm, joyous music from all corners of the world, from afrobeat and salsa to cumbia, funk and Island Sounds.

Festive Cocktail Night

An evening of festive cocktails and sharing platters at Othin House, Helmsdale, on Friday from 7pm.

Christmas Party

Tain Gala Association presents Mad Friday Christmas Party at the Duthac Centre on Friday. Doors open 8pm. Music by DJ Ally Mac. Entry £8; over 18s only. Wear your best Christmas outfit.

Christmas Concert

Highland Castle Entertainment present a Christmas variety concert at Invergordon Town Hall on Friday from 7.30pm. Featuring Ady Harper and friends, Liam Ross, Fern Strachan, performances from local schools and more. Tickets £15/12 mince pies and mulled wine included. www.ticketsource.co.uk/hce

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23

Solstice Event

North Sutherland Community Forest Trust is holding ‘Light the Spiral for the Solstice’ – a celebration of the winter solstice at Borgie Cabin and Borgie Beco Spiral Walk on Saturday from 1pm.

Participants will meet at the cabin to make their own winter lanterns. After refreshments they will head along to the Gaelic Tree Alphabet Spiral Walk with their lanterns for storytelling and forest crafts.

The event is free to attend but booking is essential to secure a place. Bookings can be made by emailing admin@nscft.org or by calling 07961 076918. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Comedy

Highland Castle Entertainment presents a side-splitting comedy gig at Invergordon Town Hall on Saturday with doors open 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Entry £12. Strictly over 18s. Tickets available via www.ticketsource.co.uk or by calling 9800 999 444.

Santa in Grotto

Santa is in his grotto at Balintore Scout Hut on Saturday 3.30pm to 6.30pm. Stalls and hot food and drinks.

Christmas Celebration

A Christmas celebration at Helmsdale Free Church on Saturday from 5.30pm. Christmas carols, Bible readings, refreshments and treats. Collection for the Big Meal - providing Christmas meals for kids in need.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 24

Stories and Games

An evening of stories and games with mince pies and mulled wine at Othin House on Sunday (Christmas Eve) 4pm-7pm. An opportunity to take a breath before the festive mayhem begins.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 25

Community Christmas Meal

Nobody needs to be alone at Christmas - Community Christmas meal at Helmsdale Community Centre on Monday at 2pm. Transport available. Spaces limited and booking essential: contact Gillian on 01431 821222/07584 167534

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 27

Dance

Dance to Breezer at the Stag’s Head Hotel, Golspie, on Wednesday 9.30pm-midnight. Entry £10.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28

Carols at the Crask

Carols at the Crask (The Crask Inn) on Thursday from 2.30pm. Singing, reflections and fellowship.
