FRIDAY, DECEMBER 29

Pre-School Fun

Pre-school fun at the Kyle of Sutherland Hub on Friday 9.30am-11am. Craft stations. Also youth cafe at the hub 3pm-5pm and youth gym 3pm-4pm.

Pool competition

RNLI pool competition at Bunillidh Sports Club, Helmsdale, on Friday. Names in by 1.30pm; competition starts 2pm. £5 entry. Raffle to raise funds for RNLI.

Twixmas Dance

Twixmas dance at Ardgay Hall on Friday from 2pm. Scottish country dancing.

Pizza Night

Pizza night at Othin House, Helmsdale, on Friday from 7pm. An antidote to Christmas food!

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30

Forest Run

The Big Ullapool Forest Run on Saturday from 10am. Everyone welcome. Meet at the entrance to Inverlael Forest at the Ullapool end of the forest.

Community Market

Golspie Community Market at Fountain Road Hall on Saturday 10am-2pm. Various stalls and free admission.

Family Quiz

Brora Wanderers Football Club family quiz at Brora Rangers Football Club social club on Saturday. Eyes down 7pm. Maximum five per team. £10 per team. A fundraiser for Brora Wanderers. Raffle.

Quiz Night

Monthly quiz night at Dornoch Community Centre (Social Club) on Saturday. Doors open 7pm for a 7.30pm start. A fun evening for all with cash prizes and spot prizes. Maximum team size is four. Organisers will make up teams if you are fewer or on your own. Refreshments included. BYOB. Entry £5; profits go to support local good causes. For more information: www.dadca.org.uk

Hogmanay Ceilidh

Hogmanay family ceilidh at Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame, Embo, on Sunday 6.30pm-10.30pm. Free entry, raffle. In aid of Embo Football Club and Embo Trust.

Party

New Year’s Eve party at Rosehall Village Hall on Sunday from 8pm-1am. Music from Caithness band Eclipse. Dancing, buffet, grant raffle. BYOB. Entry by ticket only £15pp. Tickets from Invercassley Stores and Tearoom, Rosehall.

Ceilidh Dance

Ulluminate is holding a Hogmanay ceilidh dance at Ullapool Village Hall on Sunday 8.30pm-after midnight. Featuring a stunning line-up of Highland musicians including Mairearad Green, Mike Vass, Rory Matheson, Gillie O’Flaherty and Luke Daniels. The musicians will also call the dances for those who do not know how to do them.

Licensed bar. No under 16s and no unaccompanied under 18s. Tickets £20/£10.

Dornoch Hogmanay Street Party

Dornoch's Hogmanay street party in the town Square from 10pm. Music and dancing with a lone piper playing in the bells and a midnight fireworks display

MONDAY, JANUARY 1

Wreath laying

The Friends of Clyne War Memorial Association is holding a community wreath laying at the memorial on Monday at 4.30pm. All members of the community are cordially invited to attend. Piper Danny Parkin will afterwards lead everyone down to the harbour for Brora’s bonfire and fireworks.

Brora Bonfire and Fireworks

Brora bonfire and fireworks display at the harbour from 5pm.

Torchlight Procession

Golspie Rowing Club community torchlight procession on Monday at 6pm. Gather in the car park of the former council offices, opposite the Bank of Scotland for the procession down the promenade to Golspie pier where there will be a bonfire with mulled wine and mince pies.

Open House

Go Golspie Development Trust warmly invite Golspie and district residents to join them for an open house at the newly refurbished YMCA Golspie after Golspie Rowing Club’s torchlight parade on Monday. Doors open 7.30pm- midnight. Everyone welcome. Live music, BYOB, stovies, soup.
