Whist

Fundraising whist at the Kyle Centre, Tongue, on Friday 1pm-3pm. Raffle. Admission £3 per person. Teas and coffees by donations.

Community Markets

Made in Assynt community market at Lochinver Village Hall on Friday 10am-4pm

Golspie Community Market at Fountain Road Hall on Saturday 11am-3pm.

Elphin Wednesday Market in Elphin Village Hall on Wednesday 10am-4pm. A mixture of arts and crafts produced locally.

Bingo Loco

Bingo Loco at the Duthac Centre, Tain, on Friday 6pm-10.30pm. Win holidays along with random prizes ranging from lawnmowers to a giant teddy. DJs playing the biggest tracks of the 1990s and early 20002. Tickets £25. For more information: www.bingoloco.com/tain

Orca Watch

Cycling in the Straths

Cycling in the Straths on Saturday. A fun-filled day of cycling and Mackay Country hospitality. Registration at Tongue Village Hall from 8.15am-10am. Cyclist briefing at 10.15am and staged starts from 10.30am. Choose from two routes, the 68-mile Strathnaver Challenge or the 48-mile Ben Hope Trial. Visit: www.cyclinginthestraths.co.uk

Car Boot Sale at Dornoch Community Centre (Social Club) on Saturday 9.30am-12.30pm. Free entry. Hot drinks, baked goods, bacon rolls to buy and raffle.

Fun Day

Reay Young Stars CIC are holding a fun day at Reay Hall on Saturday 11am-4pm. The event is a fundraiser for Farr High School’s Amsterdam trip. Stalls, food, face painting and much more. In addition, a family quiz will be held tomorrow evening 7pm for 7.30pm.

Talk

A talk with Kenneth McElroy on the Caithness Broch Project at Timespan Heritage Centre,Helmsdale, on Saturday 11.30am-1pm. The talk will be followed by a guided walk to Kilphedir Broch, Kildonan, from 2pm-4pm. Ring 01431 821327.

Ceilidh Dance

Ceilidh dance at Lochinver Village Hall on Saturday from 7.30pm. Music from Rory Matheson, James Graham, Annella Bulch and friends. Licensed bar and raffle. A fundraiser for Highland Hospice.

Pipe Band

Dornoch Pipe Band returns for its weekly free summer performances in the town square on Saturday from 8pm. Accompanied by Highland dancers.

SUNDAY, MAY 26

Live Music

Budapest Cafe Orchestra at Rogart Mart on Sunday. Doors open 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Tickets £16 online or at the door.

Walk

Sutherland Walkers guided walk at Morven, Caithness, on Sunday from 10.30am. Optional self-guided walk. 01408 621370.

MONDAY, MAY 27

Growing Group

Kyle of Sutherland Growing Group meets at Invershin Community Hall on Monday 7pm-9pm when the importance of trees and shrubs in your garden will be discussed. All welcome. Refreshments available. Table for books, magazines; seed and plant swaps or donations.

TUESDAY, MAY 28

Guided Walk

Join the countryside ranger for a 6km guided walk to the Valley of the Trolls, Inchnadamph, on Tuesday 11am-4pm. Meet at Inchnadamph car park. See stunning orchids, colourful mountain avens and rare plants. Suitable for over 18s only; reasonable level of fitness required. Book via Eventbrite. Ring Andy if you need a lift 01571 844654.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 29

Walk

Join the countryside ranger for ‘Walk in the Land of Otters’ - a short coastal walk by Scourie on Wednesday 10.30am-12.30pm. Meet at the Free Church car park, at the south end of Scourie village off the A894. Book via Eventbrite
