Dingwall Mart carnival atmosphere 'reminiscent of the streets of Rio De Janeiro' as 'sensational trade' raises spirits
DINGWALL and Highland Marts sold 273 adult head of breeding cattle at a 'sensational' event that witnessed 'phenomenal' trade.
Heifer with calf at foot (2) sold to £2000 gross for a Saler heifer with a Limousin cross calf from Bogburn Farm, Duncanston.
Cow with calf at foot (30) sold to £2,300 gross for a Limousin cross cow with a Limousin cross male calf from the 52 Craggiemore, Rogart.
In calf heifers (129) sold to £3,600 gross for a Limousin cross from Braes of Enzie, Buckie.
In calf cows (49) sold to £2,000 gross for a Simmental cross from 28 Stenscholl, Staffin.
Bulls (17) sold to £7,000 gross for an Charolais from Wester Craiglands, Fortrose.
Bulling heifers (46) sold to £1,860 gross for an Aberdeen Angus from Waternish Farm, Isle of Skye.
The verdict: “Dingwall Marts annual breeding cattle sale hosted a carnival atmosphere reminiscent of the streets of Rio De Janeiro. Buyers and vendors alike were in great spirits which carried on into the Dingwall arena. A phenomenal trade was witnessed for all classes of breeding cattle, in particular the high end in calf heifers which realised a truly sensational trade."
