First snow of winter
First snow of winter

In the Northern Constabulary area the snow gates have been closed on the A939 (Dava) Forres to Grantown on Spey road and officers are also dealing with a jack knifed lorry on that route.

The A939 (Dava) Carrbridge to Ferness is badly affected by snow and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Due to the prevailing wintry conditions a number of other mainland routes are affected by snow and ice.

Roads in Lochaber, Skye and Lochalsh have been particularly affected and drivers are advised not to use the B885 Portree to Struan road.

Further snow and low temperatures are forecast for the remainder of the day and overnight. If travelling, drivers are advised to ensure that both they and their vehicle are suitably equipped and prepared for changeable wintry weather, to exercise caution and drive according to the prevailing weather and road conditions.
