The “highlight of the Highlands’ arts calendar” is back this week with almost 90 artists from across the region on show.

The annual Strathpeffer Pavilion Art Fair – which will run until Sunday, November 26 – opened on Wednesday evening with a well-attended preview reception.

Many art lovers and painters of all ages gathered to admire the paintings and drawings with an incredibly high standard and variety among the artworks on display.

All the artists taking part created one-off pieces especially for display at the event.

Lisa MacDonald, High Life Highland’s manager at Strathpeffer Pavilion said she was delighted with this year’s standard.

She said: “We have 89 artists in from all over the Highland area. For the first year we extended the opening days from three to four, which is great.

“We’ve got quite a few newer artists this year and also have Dingwall and Tain Royal Academy artwork on display so it’s really important that we capture all the local talent from a wide range of ages.”

Artists such as Sheenagh Harrison, Mary Black and Paula Deas had their works hanging on the walls and beautiful artwork from pupils at Dingwall and Tain Academy will also be on display at the pavilion.

Main artist on the night, Liz Peck, is also auctioning off her lead painting to support Mikeysline – with the silent auction now live on High Life Highland’s website.

She said: “I was really nervous beforehand – the Mikeysline painting is really important to me. This is the third year I take part in this art fair but this year is particularly special, I really hope I can raise as much money as possible for Mikeysline.

“However it’s wonderful to be back. This is the highlight of the arts calendar in the Highlands – it’s a wonderful venue, very professional and every artists works towards being displayed here during the year.”
