Children at Melvich primary school have been putting their heads together on their vision for a new play park at Portskerra.

The pupils put their design ideas down on paper, including illustrations, diagrams, wishlists and even some projections on costs.

Examples of the equipment the kids would like to see include a tunnel bridge, a zip wire, swing bars, a hammock, a basketball court and hoop, monkey bars, sand and water play and a climbing frame.

Work is ongoing behind the scenes on the Portskerra Play Park project, with the steering group taking their latest step forward last week, after a funding application to the SSE Strathy North Windfarm Fund to cover the legal fees associated with a community asset transfer of the land was successful.

They now await news from Highland Council relating to the asset transfer request.

A spokesperson for the project said: "Local children have had their thinking caps on and have prepared some drawings to explain exactly what they would like in their new play park. We prepared a short video showing off their wonderful designs and ideas.

"Thank you so much to all the children and to Mrs MacKintosh and Miss Wilson at Melvich Primary School."
