A VIRTUAL event on May 9 will remind people what they are missing with the cancellation of this year’s Ullapool Book Festival,

Words From The West will be live on the book festival’s Facebook from 7.30pm, giving a live two-hour taster of “what might have been”, organisers say.

Details are emerging of what will be on the bill.

And the latest news is that three new poems will be read on the night by the poets who created them – George Gunn, Jim Carruth and Donald S Murray.

Honorary president Chris Dolan will talk about his upcoming book about travelling in Spain.
Honorary president Chris Dolan will talk about his upcoming book about travelling in Spain.

There will also be a session with the festival’s honorary president Chris Dolan.

Chris’s new book, Everything Passes, Everything Remains: Freewheeling Through Spain, Song And Memory is a "kind of travelogue of 45 years’ obsession with Spain, pedalling through some lesser-known parts of the country”.

Chris will be in conversation with Moira Leven from their home in Glasgow.

Chris’s book is due to be published in the autumn.

More information about the rest of the taster programme will follow, say organisers.
