A landslide that closed the A9 overnight at Scrabster has been cleared in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Passengers disembarking the MV Hamnavoe on the 6.30am service from Stromness were able to make their way from the ferry “with minimal delay”.

Works by Bear Scotland commenced at around 7.40am this morning, with the road cleared to allow traffic and pedestrians to pass by around 9am.

In a tweet at 9am, Bear NW Trunk Roads said: “After an early morning start clearing debris, ferry passengers make their way from the morning ferry with minimal delay. A huge well done team!”
