Unpaid work order for Helmsdale drink-drive suspect who refused to give blood sample

A Helmsdale man suspected of drink-driving was taken to Inverness so he could provide a sample to be tested for alcohol.

But 34-year-old Liam Booth of Rockview Place, refused to provide blood for analysis on October 19, 2021, because, he told police, he was "terrified of needles".

The father-of-three admitted failing to provide blood after he was stopped on the A832 at Achanalt, near Garve.

He was ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to a fine. He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
