A waitress lost control of her car on a wet road during an overtake and plunged 30 feet down an embankment.

But luckily for 41 year old Cristine Morrison of Inver Park, Lochinver, she and her two passengers emerged from the accident without serious injury.

However when police breathalysed her on the afternoon of October 21, 2021, they discovered she had twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system.

Her reading was 45mcgs of alcohol when the limit is 22mcgs. She admitted driving with excess alcohol and driving carelessly.

She was fined £540 and banned from driving for two years.

Morrison was certified as suitable for a drink drive rehabilitation course which she must fund herself. If successful, she will be given a six-month discount on her ban.

The incident occurred three miles north of the Kylesku Bridge at the Skiag junction.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that she told police she had clipped the verge as she overtook a camper van.
