Two wards at Raigmore Hospital remain closed despite a beds crisis that forced the cancellation of some operations easing late last week.

A spokesperson for NHS Highland said today that wards 6C and 3A remain closed though ward 4C has reopened.

A total of 15 operations were cancelled at the hospital last Tuesday but the spokesperson said that selective operations are currently going ahead as planned.

The cancellations were caused after a "significant" rise in the number of trauma cases admitted to the hospital, and not enough existing patients being able to be discharged to free up capacity, the delay caused in part by outbreaks of Covid-19 and scabies.
