Tributes are pouring in to Brora Rangers' 'legend' Douglas (Dugga) Norris who sadly died this morning.

A Brora Rangers club captain at the age of just 23, Mr Norris skippered the team when they won the Qualifying Cup in 1978/79 and North of Scotland Cup in 1980/81.

He went on to manage Brora Wanderers, Bunillidh Thistle and Bonar Bridge.

But he remained a huge character within Brora Rangers and was manager of the social club in later years.

In 2012 he was one of the stars of yesteryear from the Brora Rangers firmament who reassembled for one day only to play in an exhibition match celebrating the official opening of the club's all-weather pitch.

Mr Norris was one of the first six members of Brora Rangers' Hall of Fame and was chosen from a long list of nominations in 2016.

At the time the award was presented, Brora Rangers board member William Powrie said: "We believe our first six (inductees) represent a good cross section of people who, through their on and off-field activities are worthy entrants into the Hall of Fame."

Brora Rangers tweeted earlier today: "It is with the deepest of sadness that we learned of the death of Dugga this morning.

"An inductee of our Hall of Fame, he was a legend on the field and latterly steward of the social club.

"A true legend of the village and the football club."

Twitter users were quick to post their own recollections of former player Mr Norris, describing him as a "top man" and remembering his kindness.
