A NEW library specifically for young people was launched at Timespan Heritage and Art Centre in Helmsdale last Saturday.

Members of Timespan Youth Club International (TYCI), and also of the Youth Action Social Squad (YASS!) have spent the last few months building, designing and making the library space comfortable.

TYCI caters for young people aged 12-17 while YASS! is for younger children aged 4-12.

Timespan youth worker Fenella Gabrysch said the library had been set up following requests from the youngsters.

“It is a response to the impact of the pandemic on children and young people and the need for spaces for them to gather, learn and have fun in,” she said.

Timespan runs youth clubs three times a week. All sessions are free and every one is welcome.
