A dramatic rescue by the Thurso lifeboat crew will be featured on TV this Thursday night in Saving Lives at Sea – the BBC documentary series following the men and women of the RNLI.

The programme will show the crew racing to the aid of an ocean-going rower who has run into trouble 40 miles out to sea. Also featured will be incidents attended by RNLI crews in Kent and Sussex.

Saving Lives at Sea will be screened on Thursday at 8pm on BBC Two and will be available on the BBC iPlayer afterwards.

It is now in its seventh series.

The RNLI says: "Back for a seventh series, Saving Lives at Sea tells amazing stories of courage. In the new series, you'll hear from RNLI lifesavers as they describe incredible rescues, from sinking ships to tidal cut-offs, from paddleboarders in distress to people caught in rip currents, just seconds away from drowning. Saving Lives at Sea puts you right at the heart of the action."
