Tain set for bumper weekend with community market, top of the table football clash, vintage car rally (and sunshine!)
A Highland community is gearing up for a big weekend with a string of events – and the promise of sunshine.
Tain is the place to be for fans of top of the table football clashes, vintage cars and community markets.
The community market run by Tain and District Development Trust centres on the Rose Garden and the town's High Street and runs from 10am to 2pm.
It boasts a host of stalls as well as music and refreshments.
Tain Thistle Football Club meanwhile host Inver FC is what promises to be an exciting top of the table clash at the Tain Links Playing Field this afternoon at 3pm.
The sides meet for the second time this season, having shared the points in a 1–1 draw at Inver in May.
Tain boss John Maclellan said:"It’s the biggest game we’ve had at the links in a very long time, and the boys have worked very hard to get us to this position.
"It's a local derby with the two teams top of the league, the sun will be shining – we couldn’t really ask for much more. It would be great to see as many people at the game as possible to cheer us on, and we are looking forward to hosting a noisy Inver support."
The Tain Vintage Car Rally is being held on Sunday from 10am.
It features classic cars and motorcycles and is organised by Tain Gala Committee.
The organisers are flagging that it is cash only at the gates of the event, held at The Links, Tain. The charge is £5 for adults and £3 for children.
The group said: "We look forward to welcoming you there on the day - a fabulous collection of vehicles from years gone by. Bring the family and make it a day to remember."
