THIRTEEN new cases of Covid-19 were detected in the NHS Highland area in the past day.
The region's number of overall coronavirus cases rose from 807 to 820 when the latest figures were released at 2pm.
Nationally, Scotland recorded 1297 positive tests for the virus in the past 24 hours – with more than 80 per cent of those cases being detected in just four central belt health boards.
The recent rise in the number of hospitalised cases across Scotland continued, with 527 people receiving treatment for the virus yesterday – an increase of 40 on the previous day.
The number of people in intensive care dropped slightly, from 36 to 35.
But, sadly, seven further people have died from the virus since the previous daily update.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases in NHS Eileanan Siar, NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney.
But there were 55 further infections in the NHS Grampian area, which has now recorded 2774 cases since the start of the pandemic.
And NHS Tayside recorded a further 54 positive tests, for a cumulative total of 2989.
There have now been 41,256 confirmed positive tests for coronavirus in Scotland since the start of the outbreak in the spring.
