Operators of a North Coast food business are set to travel to Glasgow today to find out if they have won a prestigious award.

The Store Cafe in Bettyhill has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Scottish Women's Awards 2022.

And business owner Joanna Mackenzie and manager Karen Gilmour are to attend the awards ceremony at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow tonight.

The awards recognise and celebrate Scottish female talent – hard-working women who are making a change across industries in Scotland.

The achievements of women are recognised across many sectors of industry, including business, sport, tech, management and charity.

The Store Cafe made it to the final line-up in the Retailer of the Year category.

Mrs Mackenzie said the inclusion of the business in the awards had come as a total surprise, and she went on to praise her staff.

She said "How a wee cafe in Bettyhill can be nominated for retailer of the year in Scotland is incredible. It certainly took us by surprise but our team is so loyal and hard-working, it is truly deserving."
