THE band behind a number of the most recognisable pop songs of the 1970s are set to play at MacMoray Summer Festival.

The Jacksons – formerly Jackson 5 – are coming to Scotland for a one-stop tour in 2024, with MacMoray in Elgin the only place to catch the group in action.

Jackie, Marlon and Tito Jackson, the three remaining brothers of the five that started the group in 1968, will entertain crowds with hits such as I Want You Back, ABC and Blame It On The Boogie.

MacMoray Summer Festival – an addition to the Easter Festival in May – will take place across the weekend of August 10 and 11, 2024.

The Jacksons join Status Quo, the first band announced, on the bill for the festival – for which a total of 30,000 tickets, 15,000 per day, are now available.

Andy Macdonald, MacMoray organiser, said: "It is so exciting to have one of the world's biggest bands coming to Moray.

"It's extra exciting because it is a Scottish exclusive with MacMoray. This will be huge for the local economy and business."

The Jacksons earned the status of pop royalty when they provided the launch pad for Michael Jackson's career in the late 1960s.

Their first number one was I Want You Back in 1969, with their first four singles all reaching number one.

In 1976, the group, except for Jermaine, left Motown for Epic Records, where they added their brother Randy and changed their name to The Jacksons. Hit song Blame It On The Boogie followed.

When the brothers united for The Victory Tour in 1984, it became the highest-grossing concert series ever staged in the United States.

Tickets for MacMoray Summer Festival have now also gone on sale. A special discount launch price of £45 for an adult day ticket and £75 for a weekend ticket will be in place until Christmas.

Ticket lines opened at 9.30am (Friday, November 24). Phone 01309 679613 for enquiries. Online ticket sales will begin the same day at 5pm at www.macmoray.com
