A long-serving foster carer has been thanked for her huge contribution to the care of children from throughout the Highlands, over four decades.
Grace Brian was approved as a foster carer for Highland Council in October 1979, more than 40 years ago.
Over the years she has fostered more than 250 children, preparing and supporting them to either return home, move to live with family members or on to an adoptive family.
The council’s resource manager for fostering and adoption Alison Gordon said: “We couldn’t begin to count how many nappies Grace has changed, how many bottles she has made up or noses she has wiped over the years. The weekly allowance when Grace was approved was £11.55 per week and no fees were paid.
“The Highland Council is indebted to Grace for her commitment, loyalty and love for what she does every day. The difference she has made for so many children cannot be underestimated.”
The Fostering and Adoption Service marked Grace’s remarkable achievement with an afternoon tea and a presentation of gifts.
Alison Gordon added: “We thank her so much for the care she has provided over the past 40 years to so many children and hope that she continues to foster for many more years to come.”
