The village is set to lose its current post office service.

It was announced previously that Parlett's Convenience Store in Shore Street, which also provides the current base for the local post office, is to close permanently on Wednesday, November 23.

Owners have blamed the cost of living crisis.

It has now been announced that a temporary service will operate from the village hall in Market Street from December 1 at 9am. Opening times will be 9am-1pm, and 3-5pm, Mondays to Fridays.

Convenience store owners Heather and Allister Parlett will continue as postmasters from the new base.

For the week between the old post office closing and the new one opening customers are being advised to use services in Achiltibuie if they need to, 24 miles away.

Opening times there are 9am-12.30pm, Tuesdays to Thursdays.

Post Office network provision lead, David Duff, said: “We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are pleased to have a temporary solution to maintain service.”

The permanent vacancy is advertised on www.runapostoffice.co.uk.
