Sutherland Community Partnership is organising a tea dance in the hope of promoting good physical and mental health as well as well-being.

Caithness Big Band will be playing at the free Safe and Well Highlander 2019 event, which takes place next Saturday, September 14, at Fountain Road Church Hall, Golspie.

Everyone is welcome, but organisers are particularly keen to reach senior citizens, veterans, young people and those who feel lonely and socially isolated.

Several agencies and groups are to have stalls at the tea dance and advice will be offered on alcohol and drug awareness, physical health, mental health, financial advice, fire safety and home energy consumption.

A Partnership spokesman said: "By structuring the event as a tea dance, it will create a non-judgemental environment where participants can interact with the agencies or groups in an informal manner – potentially allowing for early interventions which otherwise may not have been possible.

"The overall aim of the event is to encourage good physical and mental health and well-being, address social isolation and promote a safe and strong Sutherland community. The tea dance starts at noon. For tickets, email: safeandwellhighlandertickets@gmail.com
