Exhibitors at this year's Taste North food and drink festival were said to be "over the moon" with the success of the event in Wick at the weekend.

More than 1400 visitors attended and there were 37 exhibitors as Taste North returned for the first time since 2019.

Sunday's event in the East Caithness Community Facility featured food, drink and craft stalls as well as cookery and cocktail demonstrations and the Taste North Challenge baking competition.

Taste North is part of a series of food and drink events and activities supported by Venture North, the destination management organisation that promotes responsible tourism in Caithness and Sutherland.

Venture North chairperson Ellie Lamont said: “The final tally was 1442 people through the doors and the exhibitors were over the moon with how it went for them.

"Certainly the feedback we got from everybody who was leaving was that they were really, really pleased with the exhibitors who were there.

“A lot of people had done a lot of shopping.”

Caithness-born chef Grant Macnicol presented two demonstrations in the Taste North Cookery Theatre.

“Grant was really good and it was great to have a local chef," Ellie said. "He really entertained the audience.”

A cocktail demonstration by Simon Collier Mr C's in Thurso also proved popular.

The Taste North Challenge winners were Iona Simpson in the youth category and Anne Campbell in the open section.

The inaugural Far North Spirits and Beer Festival was launched as part of the event and will run until November 30.
