Funds raised from an auction were presented to a mental health charity last week.

George Robinson (60) from Rhynie created a tapestry of a Canadian canoe scene to be auctioned off in aid of Mikeysline.

He was supported in his endeavour by his local Provincial Grand Lodge which bought him the supplies needed for the creation.

Altogether the work of art took more than 400 hours to complete and has a total of over 18,000 pieces to it.

Mr Robinson chose to support Mikeysline as he has faced his own mental health battle before, and said it means a lot to be able to support the group which does so much to help those in similar circumstances.

He raffled the finished product off, raising a total of £2600 for the Highland-wide charity.

Emily Stokes, chief executive of Mikeysline, was delighted to collect the cheque and gave her thanks to everyone who had helped raise the sum.

"We are hugely grateful for the support from George, who yet again has put many hours into creating an amazing tapestry to raise crucial funds for our service and to Lodge Averon and all the other lodges who got involved in supporting this fundraiser," she said.

Mr Robinson is no stranger to the art of tapestry making – or helping good causes.

A previous tapestry created by him was auctioned off for the Highland Hospice in 2020.

Mikeysline also benefited from another work last year.
