Tain pub pays tribute to punters after 'amazing' weekend of festive fundraising

A PUB in Tain has paid tribute to its punters after a weekend of festive fundraising for charity.
A series of events held at the Star Inn in the Easter Ross town between Friday December 1 and Sunday December 3 raised over £2000 for MFR's Cash for Kids campaign.
Events kicked off on Friday night with a pub quiz, won by a team called “The Bots”. The winners received a bottle of wine each.
On Saturday afternoon, the pub held a duos darts competition, with the winners – Ryan Graham and John Nimmons – receiving a trophy from Forbes Jewellers.
A fun Saturday night of music from the "excellent" Craig Wilson followed.
On Sunday, Star Inn proprietors Scott Crombie and Caroline Henderson drew a raffle which featured prizes such as a 40” television, a 19 year old bottle of malt whisky and a signed Liverpool football shirt, amongst other items.
They also scratched a "huge" football card on the day, which raised £750 on its on for charity.
Other fun games on Sunday included a £1 coin toss, which raised £160.
Mr Crombie said: "Myself and Caroline chose this charity as it means do much to us. We saw their appeal last Christmas which really tugged at the heartstrings. We both donated to their appeal last year, but to think that thousands of kids in this area will wake up to nothing on Christmas Day is horrifying. It makes you stop and think.
"Since taking on The Star Inn, there was only one charity that we wanted to raise funds for at this time of the year, and we were only too happy to help in any way we could. It is a truly wonderful charity, which deserves all the help, support and publicity given.
"We’d like to thank all our punters and family who dug deep to help out, and also the wonderful Kats' Second Editions who donated two massive bags of toys and books as well. It was tiring and hard work, but so so worth it in the end."
