A 55-year-old Easter Ross man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court accused of abducting a child in Alness.

Stephen Ali from Tain made no plea and was committed for further examination by Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood last week.

Defence solicitor John MacColl said: "I can confirm an application for bail was made on my client's behalf which was granted.

“But the Crown appealed it and my client has been remanded pending the outcome of that appeal."
