Riding Club chairperson Anne Henderson’s 30-year-old pony, Pepper, did not want to miss out on the fun, and led the way for much of the 5km route.

On returning to Culrain Hall, tea and doughnuts were served.

Carbisdale Castle owner Samantha Kane, whose Lady Carbisdale Trust had kindly sponsored the ride, handed out beautiful rosettes to all the riders.

Mrs Henderson said: "Many thanks to the members of Culrain And District Hall committee and Robert Henderson, who served stirrup cups and teas, and acted as marshals on the route.”

The woodland trails around Carbisdale offer stunning views of the Kyle of Sutherland and beyond.
