She is the lead advanced practitioner for the Remote and Rural Support Team (West) and the Hospital at Home Team Skye.

Cathy, who has worked with NHS Highland for six years, was surprised but delighted when she received notification about the award.

She said: “It was such a shock to hear I’d been nominated to receive this honour but I am absolutely thrilled.

“Healthcare in remote and rural areas does bring its own set of challenges but it is also so rewarding. I’m glad the work we do has been honoured in this way.

“I’ve been a nurse for more than 35 years and have had the opportunity to work with so many amazing people over the years. You don’t get honoured like this without a great team around you so I would like to pay tribute to them for helping me do what I do.”

Pam Dudek, Chief Executive with NHS Highland, said: “I am delighted for Cathy. I know how passionate she is about nursing and the hard work and commitment she displays every day in her role. This award is so very well deserved and I am so pleased that her work has been recognised.”

The Birthday Honours are awarded as part of the King’s Official Birthday celebrations during the month of June.
