Sutherland man denies abuse of duty officer at Wick court
A man living in Sutherland is alleged to have unleashed a tirade of drunken abuse at the duty police officer at Wick Sheriff Court.
David Richards is challenging the allegation and will stand trial, at Wick Sheriff Court, on August 23.
The 60-year-old denies threatening or abusive behaviour on June 1.
The charge accuses him of repeatedly shouting and swearing at the constable and subjecting the officer to offensive comments such as "f*** off", "I hope you die", and the single word, "prick".
Richards, of Whitehill Farm, Loth, also denied unrelated charges of threatening or abusive behaviour and refusing to turn down loud music at his then home in Shelligoe Road, Lybster, when requested to do so by police officers.
The accused has also pleaded not guilty to possession of cannabis on the same date, May 30, last year.
His trial over these charges will also take place on August 23.
