A MELVICH family and a Lochinver resident are starring in a national BBC gardening programme which aired for the first time on April 1.
The Murray family and Ballal Mirza are featured in The Beechgrowers, the new strand in BBC Scotland’s gardening series.
They are among two families and four individuals to take part in the programme from locations across Scotland.
Series producer Gwyneth Hardy said: “The Murray family impressed us so much with a film they sent in that it inspired us to look for some more viewers’ gardens and to follow them through a growing season.
“The six bring a range of different experiences of gardening from all corners of Scotalnd and we hope that it will inspire others to get growing.”
The Murrays – mum Laura and daughters Niamh (16), Merryn (9) and Megan (8), took over their garden in 2018 and will continue revamping their exposed plot with the remote help of Beechgrove’s George Anderson. Ballal Mirza has his own woodlands and gardens with wildlife in mind.
Beechgrove is also shown across the UK on BBC Two on Sunday mornings. It is going to be available this year through Britbox to viewers in the USA and Canada.
