The Sutherland flag was proudly flying in Parliament Square yesterday to mark County Flags Day.

It was one of 50 county flags on display and flew between Sussex and Warwickshire with Caithness just around the corner.

The display was arranged by Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.

Mr Berry told fellow MPs that the "history and traditions of this country are threads that help bind our diverse communities together".
